Venue Review | The Upper Room

We are excited to announce that Liquid Catering will be the exclusive bar provider for a new event space in downtown Greenville, the Upper Room! The space is located near the corner of N Main and College Streets in a newly-restored historic building.

The founder, Jane Kelley, along with her partner, Erin Hines, were dedicated to preserving the charm and history of the space and kept the original hardwood floors, brick walls, steel beams, and windows. The large windows lining the walls date back to 1925 and allow light to beautifully fill the intimate space. Their bar (our personal favorite touch) is refurbished from an older piece of furniture into a new stand-out piece for the room. Guests will step off of Main St and into a venue with an elegant but rustic city feel.

​The Upper Room event space can cater to wedding ceremonies, receptions, corporate meetings, happy-hours, or any social event. The space can hold a maximum of 200 guests depending on the layout of your party. Whether there are 60 people or 200 people attending your event, the space never feels over-whelming and your guests will never be lost in the crowd.

The Upper Room has been open to the public since June, and has just completed its new rooftop garden. The rooftop uses green, artificial turf and has comfortable, outdoor lounge seating. As the weather changes into warmer temperatures, Jane and her husband, Don,  plan to grow a beautiful garden to fill the space with greenery and flowers. Jane professes a love for gardening and has added a personal touch to the rooftop’s plants – all flower pots include a wine cork written with the name of the plant. 

​In addition to the beautifully refurbished bar, one of our favorite characteristics of the Upper Room venue is the combination of the historic building and the modern design of the guest bathrooms. It may sound odd to mix modern and historic, but their bathroom finishes are beautiful! Jane certainly did not overlook any details or leave any surfaces untouched. She was able to source old doors from another site in the building and refurbish them to be used as the doors to the bathrooms. The inside of the bathrooms are lit with stainless, eco-friendly fixtures and includes a sink with an automatic hand dryer to reduce paper waste.
